An Educator's List of Recommended Reading

First off, this is a "work in progress." Months ago, I started compiling together (mostly in my head) books that have shaped, influenced, or caused reactions in my thinking as an educator. In no way is this a comprehensive list, nor are all the books about education, per se. It's a bibliography of my biography as a teacher and a thinker over the last decade. What I would love, though, is for people to recommend more selections in the comments section. Perhaps I've overlooked something or perhaps I need to read something new, so please make suggestions. The second part of this list is a selection of "academic fiction" - namely, stories about teachers and teaching. Again, make recommendations for that list as well, and in the meantime, I'm going to begin preparing brief annotations for each selection.
